I sold a second home in 2025.  I received a 1099-S and 593 form (state withholding).  I'm a resident of CA.  When filing federal, I was asked for California state ID#.  I can't find it in either form.  How can I find this or what should I fill in?

The number you need is the California Corporation Number (CA Corp no.), FEIN, or FTB Issued ID (CA SOS no.) of the entity that handled the withholding (usually the title company or escrow agent).    It is in Part I of Form 593 in the upper right hand corner.

Thank you for your quick respond.  One more question please.  In the TT 'Proceeds' section, it described as after expense deduction.  My 1099-S box2 shows 'Gross Proceeds' (selling price without any deduction for expense).  Should I put Box2 value into the TT 'Proceeds Section'?  Total Amount Paid=buying cost + closing + upgrade to the property.  Finally, use  'I have more..' to fill all expense related to closing?  Thanks in advanced.

Yes, the 1099-S box 2 is used for inputting the 1099-S. You want the IRS computer to match those numbers.

In the "Cost" or "Basis" box, enter the sum of your Buying Cost + Improvements.

Use the "I had selling expenses" or "Other details" section to enter your commissions and 2025 closing costs.

The program will do the math.
