Hi, I just moved to Florida July 2023. On my 2023 taxes, TT is insisting I need to file Florida state tax Tangible Personal Property tax return (Form DR-405). I am filing as self employed and do take the home office deduction because I work from home in my home office but that’s where it ends - I’m a contractor doing IT work for an IT company virtually so I don’t own a small business and have assets that I put on my federal return; I did input business expenses but no assets. The form is asking for account number/parcel number, NAIC/SIC, business/corporate name etc. I obviously don’t have any of this stuff because I’m just self employed as a contractor, not a small business owner. I know technically being self employed is like owning your own business (yourself) but all the questions it’s asking me in this form are for people who own a registered small business, and do business with customers etc. what do I do?? I don’t have the info it’s asking for but TT says I should file one based on my federal return info. Thank you!

FLORIDA
Florida does not have a state income tax. You should have skipped the FL tax unless you own rental property in FL or a FL based business.
Florida has a tangible personal property tax form that is used in a Florida-located business or rental property and is filed with the county property appraiser by April 1st.
If you do need to file a Form DR-405, nothing will print (except an instruction sheet) unless assets were transferred or you manually entered assets in the DR-405 worksheet.
If you do not have tangible personal property to report, choose Skip State in the State Taxes section.
If you proceeded past the warning screens, try deleting the Florida return --> https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900608
If you actually already paid for an unnecessary FL return:
No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”

I don’t own a business but I am self employed as a contractor so I guess that’s why it got triggered? I do have the ability to delete it but I don’t want to if I do actually need to file it…TT says by the info on my federal return I allegedly should file it. I don’t want to not file and trigger an audit if my federal return flags it as something I should have done. All previous returns have been in TN so I have no idea about this form. I just don’t have any of the business info it’s asking for, I’m just self employed and have “business expenses” relayed to my home office as a contract worker that I file.
