If you entered income from a 1099-NEC you are actually self-employed. Also, if you entered income from a 1099-MISC that you requested to deduct expenses from, TurboTax will also consider you self-employed.
@VolvoGirl is correct as well if you did not enter either of these 1099 forms into your return.
