International Org + Quarterly payments?

Hi there, I work for an international org and received a 1099-NEC. However, Turbotax has not asked me about this situation. Instead, the only option for entering it is Wages & Income so far is as "self-employed" or "Other" (though still not specified as international org). I am concerned this is miscalculating my tax due.

I also have made quarterly payments, but Turbotax has not asked me about this information and I cannot see where I would enter it. Instead it is taking me through a series of pages telling me that I owe XX money and how would I like to pay a penalty. Please help. Thank you!

If you are a U.S. person, income reported on a 1099-NEC is taxable self-employment income to you regardless of where the organization is located, or where the work was performed. There's no special exemption just because the payer is an international organization, when the income is reported on a 1099-NEC.

Questions pertaining to estimated payments are usually asked later in the interview process. That may be why you are showing a penalty and balance due.

You can enter the payments manually under:

Federal → Deductions & Credits → Estimates and Other Taxes Paid → Federal Estimated Tax Payments.

Where did you live and work?   Did you live or work abroad----or did you just get paid by a company that is abroad?

I lived and worked in the United States. Note that it is not a company, but an international organization, like the United Nations.
