Did you make a distribution or Roth conversion from a traditional IRA and you have basis in nondeductible traditional IRA contributions?  If not, TurboTax doesn't need to know your year-end balance.

If you have basis in nondeductible traditional IRA contributions and made distributions, were those distributions entirely Qualified Charitable Distributions or HSA Funding Distributions?

The answer to your question is no. I understand that TurboTax may not need this information because there has not been a taxable event, but wouldn't it be good hygiene to include this information on the worksheet?

The general philosophy of step-by-step mode seems to be to avoid asking questions that are unnecessary with regard to preparing the tax return.  Using the CD/download version of TurboTax one could switch to forms mode and make the entry directly on line 18, but that's not an option with the online version of TurboTax.  Regardless, if the information is not needed to prepare your tax return, it's extraneous information with respect to your tax return.

I suggest keeping separate records for your traditional IRAs.
