Why did Turbo Tax enter the W-2 12 DD (non-tax employee sponsored health care) to Line 9 of 8889? This amount was added to Line 6 of 1040. Also caused more tax per 5329.

Is this is a bug?  I already e-filed so will need to amend if it was a Turbo Tax mistake (the difference in taxes owed is significant in my case >1k)

Yes, you will want to amend your return in any case.

As you have recognized, the code DD amount (the amount of your insurance premiums, not your HSA contributions) should not be on line 9 of your 8889.

I am assuming that you went back and checked your W-2 entries and that your W-2 was entered correctly.

This is not a known bug. Did you import your W-2 as opposed to entering it manually? Sometimes the import process fails, possibly because the employer did not build the W-2 data packet for the import correctly. In this case, I would encourage you to go back to the W-2, delete it, and re-enter it manually. In fact, since you may have some residual data in the HSA section that won't go away. I suggest you get rid of all HSA information which will include deleting and re-adding the W-2. Please read the following:

The safest - although brute force - way to fix this is to do the following in this order:

1. make a copy of your W-2(s) (if you don't have the paper copies)

2. delete your W-2(s) (use the garbage can icon next to the W-2(s) on the Income screen

*** Desktop***

3. go to View (at the top), choose Forms, and select the desired form. Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.

*** Online ***

3. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

4. delete form(s) 1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)

5. go back and re-add your W-2(s), preferably adding them manually

6. go back and redo the entire HSA interview.
