There is a box on the Social Security benefits entry screen that will allow you to enter the Federal Income taxes withheld along with the amount of Social Security benefits you received.
To go to the section of the tax return to enter this information, use these steps:
Your answer does not work for me. I do not see a tax withheld box when I get the questions about my social security income. I do not see a box to enter the amount of taxes withheld. Could it be because I did not have to pay any taxes so it skips over the taxes withheld box? I did not know whether I would have to pay taxes on my social security income so I opted to have 10% withheld. It turned out that I do not owe any taxes on the SS income. Let me ask a pointed question. Why would you fail to include a SSA 1099 form for us to fill in? I liked the way you always did it before, i.e. fill in the amount shown in box 6.
@PRO227 When entering you SSA-1099 you should be on this screen. The box 6 for entering federal taxes withheld is shown.
I do not get that screen. That is the one I am used to in previous year's Turbo Tax but I cannot get it to show up. I enter "SSA-1099" and it takes me to a form I filled in about my social security income, not what is shown in your answer. The form has two parts and it takes me to a part that asks about SS and foreign countries.
