Where do i enter social security 1099

Am i entering Social Security in the wrong section of Turbo Tax?  TT asks for distribution information for 1099-R.  If I place Social Security in the same section as 1099-Rs i am asked for distribution, from box 7 of the 1099.  Box 7 on the Social Security 1099 does not have this information (box 7 is my name and address).

Do not try to enter your SSA1099 as a W-2.  Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security to enter your SSA1099.

You're trying to enter it in the 1099-R section instead of the SSA-1099 section.

Use this pathway: Federal Taxes > Wages & Income > Retirement Plans & Social Security > Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099).  Then follow the prompts.

To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099

• Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
• Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
• Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
• Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
• On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button

Or enter social security benefits in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen.  Click on Jump to social security benefits
