Where do I enter my Traditional IRA balance in deluxe online version. I found the 8060 under topic search but it doesn't have this option. Do I need desktop version?

If you are referring to the question about the total value of your Traditional IRAs as of December 31, 2016, that question will appear in the follow-up questions after all the Form 1099-Rs have been entered.  You must enter that your IRA has non-deductible contributions and then the total value as of December 31, 2016 will need to be entered.

Use these steps to get to those questions:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)

  • This opens a box where you can type in “1099-R” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)

  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to 1099-R

  • Click on the blue “Jump to 1099-R” link

  • Click Continue at the bottom of the “Your 1099-R Entries” screen

  • Answer Yes to the question about non-deductible IRA contributions and continue through the remaining screens
