when you receive a distribution from that IRA, you will receive form 1099-R from the IRA Administrator.  THAT is entered into your tax return.   

 

if there is no distribution, there is nothing to report on the tax return; however, in many cases there is an RMD requirement.  Talk to your IRA administrator.
