I made an excess 401K contribution, I had the funds returned, and recorded the distribution of the access funds in the appreciate section; however TurboTax desktop version will not allow me to transmit my returns, because contribution amounts shown in W-2 section exceed limits.

I had same issue and made phone call to Turbo tax. After 2 hours-long screen sharing, they said there is no way to file through efile in this case and gave me this article as an example. They told me that I should file by mail.

turbotax desktop and quickbooks online don't work together, now this. I can't believe what a horrible product this is.
