Total ira contributions
is the total IRA contribution my total amount in the account or just MY total year to date contribution to the account?
Your IRA contribution is the amount you added to the account in 2016, not the amount that you have in the account.
So, just your total year to date contribution to the account- excluding amounts you may have rolled over from another retirement plan (such as a 401(k)).
