Is there a break even point to as to when to apply? When is the best time to apply for social security?

Greetings!

 

There are different options as to when to start claiming social security benefits. In a nutshell, generally, the earliest you can apply is 62 years old and the latest you can apply is 70. Naturally, the longer you wait, the higher the benefits. There is a great article on the social security website along with a table with an example scenario to help you understand the different possibilities and outcomes:
