I read in other responses to questions here that the SSA 1099 is not importable into TurboTax. However, when I just opened my 2020 return in TurboTax to enter some info, I found the SSA 1099 info for both my wife and I already entered into my return. The income and tax withheld info appear to be correct but when I checked the SSA.gov site, there was no 1099 info available yet.
Has anything changed with the info being importable?
Thanks.

Not sure what you are seeing but NO your 2020 SSA1099's are not magically entered into your 2020 tax return. You have to enter them yourself when you get them. Social Security mails them in January. Wait for them.
Thank you for the info!
Even if they could be imported you would have to initiate the import like you do for other importable items... the program doesn't have the ability to import by itself.
Are you possibly in the prior year program by mistake ? Or seeing the info in the summary screen ? Be very careful ... check everything before you file.
This is the first year for Social Security income and it was definitely my 2020 return. The only reasonable explanation for it then is I must have manually entered the preliminary data just to get an idea of my tax liability while I was waiting for the official SSA 1099s. I just don't remember doing it :(
Getting older is fun!
Thanks for your response!
