Roth 457b Contribution

Can I write off any of my Roth 457b Contributions that I make since they are POST-tax contributions, and not pre-taxed like traditional 457b contributions?  Essentially, they perform like a Roth IRA, but for govermental employees.

Roth 457b Contribution

No, they are already excluded from your wages and will be shown on your W-2 box 12.

Roth 457b Contribution

Roth 457(b) contributions are not excluded from your wages.  Roth contributions must be made from taxed compensation, meaning that you are not allowed to "write off" (deduct) the amount of the contribution.  However, if you meet the requirements, a voluntary Roth contribution to a governmental 457(b) can qualify you to receive a tax credit.
