Thanks so much for that update! I went ahead and did the edit/add on the 1099R and continued until the end and it worked!
This does not work for the Windows/Desktop version. I updated and forced an update and still the same issue on the Pension/Annuities/IRA Worksheet.
@giantberger This does not work for the Windows/Desktop version. I updated and forced an update and still the same issue on the Pension/Annuities/IRA Worksheet.
Great that they fixed the online version. Be even better if they would fix the desktop version so I could file my NYS taxes. I've checked the software for updates and there are no updates for the desktop version of TT. My current version is 2020.48.20.71
Does anyone know when the desktop version of TT will be updated?
@chowderish @TravisTractor Ugh. Sorry to have spread false hope on that front. I hope they push an update for the downloadable versions soon!
thanks for the update on the NY State form...I just checked mine and it went right through. So glad that the issue has been resolved.
NY State taxes successfully filed!!! AMEN!!!!!
Case Closed!!!
I can confirm you can now file your NY State taxes using the desktop version. Hurray! What a great day for humanity!
I have a Desktop version
tried efile NY just a minute ago, this time i am getting a different error message: they want me to go back and select federal return to e-file with NY state together,
but the fact is i already e-file federal and NJ resident state like a week ago and got confirmation of acceptance
I guess TT desktop is not ready yet?
can you tell me please: did you e-file federal at the same time as NY STATE?
I don't get the Pens/Ann worksheet error anymore, however I filed my Federal Return 3 weeks ago and i'm getting a message that I must file my Federal Return (Like I didn't when I did) before filing my NY State and it doesn't let me file my NY State alone.
Help Please!
Your e-filed federal return will need to be accepted before you can e-file your state (or, you can just paper-file your state return later).
Since you are having issues filing the state, there may be an issue with the federal. Where are you receiving information that you need to file your federal? TurboTax? Did you receive an email stating that your Federal return was accepted? If Not, then you should verify whether you actually filed your federal.
Did you receive two emails from TurboTax after you filed, One stating that your return was transmitted and the next stating that your return was accepted. Use your emails to determine what the status of filing is.
@joeyhimura I have the same issue. After the updated NYS came out last night. I tried to file and get the same error message as you. I filed my Federal taxes on 3/5 and didn't file the NYS taxes. I no longer get the error message about the Pension/Annuities but it keeps saying I have to file my Federal. I already did file it and it's been accepted. I called TT Support last night and spent an hour talking to them and their IT. Apparently, I was the first person to report it and they didn't know how to fix it. They could not figure it out and said they would get back to me. I have not heard from them since last night....so not sure if they are working on it.
@Cynthiad66I have the same exact issue as the others that are reporting not being able to file the state after filing the Federal. My Federal was accepted on March 5th and I did receive two emails from TT. I and no longer get the error message about the Pension as previously did. I called the Support last night after the NYS update came out and spent over an hour with no results. So, the update did fix the Pension issue, but broke the state Efile so we now have another issue.
In NYS, you are required to E-file your New York State income tax return if you are using tax software to prepare it.
Hello, and Yes, my federal was e-filled and accepted i got e-mails, my resident state NJ was e-filed and accepted also, I was waiting for update to efile NY.
TURBO TAX page confirming it, '' nj e-filed, federal e-filed, do you want to e- file ny now?'', but when you say yes, the next page giving you the error mentioned
Thank you
