Filing jointly would not affect the individual to whom the income reported on form 1099-NEC is assigned.
Form 1099-NEC is used to report self-employment income. You must designate the income as belonging to the taxpayer it was paid to. So, you must insure that when you enter the form 1099-NEC, that you indicate in TurboTax that it belongs to your spouse.
This is an ongoing bug that is being investigated by Intuit.
There is no workaround presently available in online TurboTax. The only workaround is in the CD/download version of TurboTax where you can make the correct entries only in forms mode.
I have this same issue on the downloaded version turbotax home and business. what is the ETA for the fix or is there a workaround?
Some TurboTax customers are experiencing an issue linking a 1099-NEC to the correct person. The name on the NEC is reverting to the main taxpayer's name.
