Roth 401k to traditional 401k

I started contributing to a Roth 401k this year. I just realized that because of my income it would be better to contribute to a traditional 401k as my income in retirement would be lower. Can I recharacterize my Roth 401k to a traditional 401k within the same year? If I can, will I still see the tax benefit of contributing to a traditional 401k?

Roth 401k to traditional 401k

No.  Contributions to a Roth 401(k) can never be recharacterized to be traditional 401(k) elective deferrals.
