I was just recently divorced and it was not an amicable separation. I do not have his social security number and doubt he would provide it. How can I file my taxes?

What was your marital status on 12/31/2020? If you were still married, you cannot file Joint for 2020 without his permission.

If you will not be filing a Married Filing Joint return, then you will have to file as Married Filing Separately.

In order to file as Married Filing Separately for 2020, you will need to print and paper return and file by mail. Include a cover letter with the return explaining why the SSN for the spouse is missing.
