Form 1099-R, Box 16 - State distribution. What goes in this box? TurboTax won't let me move on until I fill in the box. I had money deducted for state tax. This is in Box 14. If the state distribution in box 16 of the Form 1099-R is blank (empty), then put the amount from box 1 into box 16.

On the 1099-R Box 16  is State Distribution.  It is typically the same as in Box 1.

Box 14 is State Tax Withheld.   This will be pre-posted for taxes withheld for the state.
