Pension Plan Distribution...TurboTax asks "What did you do with the money?"

I input the distribution data from my 1099-R then selected that the plan was "Qualified." TurboTax then asked me what I did with the money from this plan.  These are the choices: 1 a) Moved the money to another retirement account or returned it to the same account. 1 b) Did something else with it (Cashed it out). 2 a) Rolled over all of the money to an IRA or returned it to the same account or 2 b) did a combination of rolling over, converting or cashing out the money. I think TurboTax is asking about the "nest egg" amount in my pension fund and not the 2022 distribution amount. I am confused!! I selected 1a and 2a then TurboTax says I won't have to pay tax on the "ROLLOVER" but the amount is actually the 2022 DiSTRIBUTION! What did I do wrong? How to I correct this?

If you selected 1a and 2a, saying that you moved it to another retirement account and rolled over all of the money or returned it, you told TurboTax that you did a Rollover.  Rollovers are not taxable.  This is why you are getting that message.

If you took a distribution and did not return it, then you should select that you Did something else with it (Cashed it out)

You will get the same questions for all entries from 1099-R's whether it is a pension or an IRA.

For your pension, you will need to answer the same way, that you "Did something else with it (Cashed it Out)"

To fix the issue, you will simply need to go back through and change your answers to say that you Cashed it Out. You can do this by clicking Income then Edit next to the 1099-R entries

Turbo tax info is correct. You have to pay tax on distribution and rollover is not taxed. Since you say you did partial rollover no tax is on this till you withdraw. I’m OR is the turbo tax is telling you you have to pay tax on the entire distribution,

Plese clarify what is it the you want correct/-Is it the rollover you did by oversight?

If it the rollover error  you made or the entire withdrawal —-just go to the View tab on the top of the turbo tax click and click on forms . You will see the working copies of different forms just click, view and delete the form. And start over
