I never received a 1099 c and only knew about it because the IRS sent a letter along with a substantial amount of money due. The 1099 c is dated for 2017. What should I do?

If you agree with the IRS, you will sign the paperwork where indicated and send it back along with your a payment and a Form 9465 Installment Agreement request if you cannot pay the amount in full.

If you do not agree with the IRS about the 1099-C, then you will respond to the paperwork that you disagree and include documentation to support your position, such as a Form 982 Insolvency Worksheet.
