My husband got his 1099-R and box 7 has "7-Nondisability"
but when I add the code it comes up as "normal distribution." Do I keep the 7 code? Nothing new changed

Yes, just leave the code as "7." As you say, it has no effect on your return, and a non-disability distribution is a normal distribution.
