Why can you not type it in? Do you have a copy of the 1099R? You might have to go to the plan's website to get it. If your financial institution is not on the drop down list to import the 1099R, you can click "I'll type it in myself" ---but you must have a copy of it so that you can enter the information.
You should get a Form 1099-R if you received $10 or more from a retirement plan. You're must to report a Form 1099-R on your tax return, even if the distribution isn't taxable.
If you have not received the Form 1099-R then you will have to contact your plan administrator for assistance in getting the form.
When you enter your Form 1099-R into TurboTax you will have the option to import or upload your 1099-R or to manually enter the information yourself.
Make sure your financial institution or brokerage is a TurboTax 1099 partner. If your institution isn't on the list, you won't be able to import.
