If I receive monthly military retirement (ex husband) benefits direct deposited into my ckg acct (from DFAS) what taxable income do I list it under when I file my taxes?

If retirement benefits from my ex-husband are taxable income how do I list it on my income tax form when I file? And do I need a 1099?

You should have received a Form 1099-R for the income.  Contact the payer of the income for the 1099-R

You should get a 1099-R for the retirement benefits paid directly to you from DFAS. If you didn't receive a 1099-R you can contact DFAS Retired and Annuitant Pay at 800-321-1080.

To enter the 1099-R:

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click "Take Me To My Return"
  3. Click "Federal" from the left side of your screen
  4. Scroll down to "Retirement Plans and Social Security" and click "Show more"
  5. Scroll down and click "Start" next to "IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
  6. Answer "Yes" to the question "Did You Have Any of These Types of Income?"
  7. Click "I'll Type it Myself"
