It depends. If you received the combined total amounts of both forms you can add the figures together for each box on your SSA-1099.
If you are married you would enter the information for both spouses when you make the entry in TurboTax.
Double check to see if one is a corrected form and also you can check your Social Security Administration (SSA) online account for confirmation and clarification. You can also create an account if you don't already have one. Simply click the link below to get started:
If the Social Security number in box 2 of the each SSA-1099 is the same then you can add the amounts in box 5 together and enter the sum on your tax return.
To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button
Or enter ssa-1099 in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to ssa-1099
