I have a form 1099-R tax return, however when I go to file it says 1040A. I do not have a 1040A form, I only have a 1099r form. I'm retired.

How can I go back and change my mistake? I do not have a 1040A tax. I'm retired.

You've filed everything correctly. You're form 1099-R is reported on form 1040A.

You should use a Form 1040A tax return, if all six of the following apply

  • Wages, salaries, tips.
  • Interest and ordinary dividends.

  • Capital gain distributions.

  • Taxable scholarship and fellowship grants.

  • Pensions, annuities, and IRAs.(1099-R form)

  • Unemployment compensation.

  • Alaska Permanent Fund dividends.

  • Taxable social security and railroad retirement benefits.(SSA-1099 form)
