You will enter the 1099-R and then inform TurboTax that you rolled the distribution over to another IRA. (If box 7 has a code “G” it will automatically be a trustee-to-trustee rollover).
- Login to your TurboTax online account
- Click Take me to my return or pick up where I left off
- In the search box (located in the upper right hand corner), type the word 1099-R
- Click the Jump to 1099-R link listed in the search results
- This will bring you to the area to you enter 1099-R forms (your 1099-R Entries screen)
- Click Add or Edit. Once inside the 1099-R you are entering, continue through the onscreen instructions until you reach the Was this Money Rolled Over to a Roth IRA? screen. Click Yes or No. TurboTax will be able to calculate whether the distribution was nontaxable or not.
