Forms SSA-1099, SSA-1099-SM, and SSA-1099-R-OP1 report retirement, disability, and survivor benefits from the Social Security Administration (SSA).
Don't confuse the SSA-1099 with the 1099-R that reports retirement benefits from non-SSA sources like pensions, 401(k)s, and IRAs. 1099-Rs are entered elsewhere in TurboTax.
All SSA-1099 forms get entered in the same place:
In TurboTax, search for the term social security benefits and then select the Jump to link at the top of your search results.

We'll calculate what portion, if any, of your Social Security benefits are taxable. If your only income is from Social Security, you aren't required to file a return.

Do you get the SSA-1099 entry screen with 2 columns to enter each spouse? At the beginning under My Info did you select Married Joint and enter your spouse info?
did not seem to work. I am on the form:
"Tell us about the benefits you received"
I can enter my spouses benefits without an issue but I cannot enter my Box 5 Net a amount. I can enter values in all the other boxes for me but Box 5 seems to be read only.
Had the same issue. The box seemed to be read-only but all other were.
Double Clicked on the box and the supporting documentation box opened. Enter the about in that box and it recorded just fine.
