Husbnd & I filed marr/sep 2017- are filing joint 2018.Under 1099-G income, for "all payments &withholdings" do I list his or aggregate? He had State refnd last yr. I owed.

Husband and I have filed married separately in past and are now switching to married jointly.  Last year he received a state refund and I owed.  For entering the 1099-G do I enter an aggregate of both of our "payments and withholdings" or just his?  I ask because on the next screen it asks if you paid state taxes -- which I did.  I'm worried entering the refund and then entering that we paid taxes creates some contradiction and I want to make sure I"m entering the information correctly.

You should enter his 1099-G as is, and separately take a deduction for the state taxes you paid as an itemized Schedule A deduction.  This assumes he itemized in 2017 and took a deduction for state taxes paid.  If not, do not enter the 1099 at all.
