Many government employers offer deferred compensation plans (or 457 plans) to which the employees can voluntarily contribute. This question may come up if you entered code G in Box 12 of Form W-2.

TurboTax asks questions in order to categorize items properly. Depending on your income, the contribution could qualify you for the Saver's Credit.
