How can I enter 1099-R for2023?

If you are trying to enter a 2022 Form 1099-R then please try these steps to get back to the retirement section:

  1. Click on "Search" on the top right and type “1099-R”
  2. Click on “Jump to 1099-R”
  3. Click "Continue" and enter the information from your 1099-R/review Form 1099-R

Or use these steps:

  1. Click "Wages & Income" (under Federal) on the left
  2. Scroll down and click "Show more" next to "Retirement Plans and Social Security"
  3. Scroll down and click "Start" next to "IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan (1099-R)

If this isn't helpful can you please provide more details about your retirement distribution? Are you trying to enter a 2023 Form 1099-R for excess contribution?

How can I enter 1099-R for2023?

You are not preparing a 2023 return.  You are preparing a 2022 tax return now.  NEXT year you will prepare a 2023 return---when 2023 is over.

To enter your retirement income, Go to  Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.

To get rid of "race mode"

Click < or > to get the refund monitor to appear.  You might also have to toggle off that “race mode” or click Review.
