Trying but failing to fill out form 8086 where $8000 was placed into a Traditional IRA ( no other accts. except workplace 401k) and accured $11.31 during waiting period before completing the backdoor roth ira conversion.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You have to enter the contributions before you enter the conversion. Delete the conversion part to get the 8606 basis. Then enter the conversion.
The programs and wording of questions vary but this should get you through. From GeorgeM777:
First: Enter the Non-Deductible Contribution to a Traditional IRA
Step 2: Enter the Conversion from a Traditional IRA to a Roth IRA
To check the results of your backdoor Roth IRA conversion, see your Form 1040:
you don't say how much you converted,
for paperwork convenience, the correct action is to convert $8,011.31 to roth IRA
