Do i need to report my ssa-1099 in my 2023 state taxs

had just started receiving social security disability benefits in2023 and got a SSA-1099 form to file with my Federal taxes , my ? do i need to file this SSA-1099 form with my State tax as well ?

Your information flows from your federal return to the state return.  You only need to enter the SSA1099 in the federal return; if your state taxes Social Security the SS income will show up automatically on the state forms.  There are only a few states that tax Social Security.

 

 

 There are 11 states that tax Social Security—Colorado, Connecticut, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Utah, and Vermont  These states offer varying degrees of income exemptions, but two mirror the federal tax schedule: MN and VT.

 

The tax laws for 2024 will change——for  tax year 2024 Missouri and Nebraska will no longer tax SS
