Dependent interest income and social security benefits

I receive disability benefits and my children receive benefits due to my disability. I understand that I don't claim their benefits on my income tax, but they did receive an interest income statement (interest earned is less than $35). Do I have to file income tax for them?

Dependent interest income and social security benefits

No, you would not file an income tax return for them because they are not required to based on the amount of interest income they received.

Unearned income covers all other earnings, such as taxable interest, dividends, and capital gains that aren't the result of performing services.  If the total of your unearned income is less than $1,000 you will not need to file a return for your children.
