I have a decedent IRA from my father, who was born in 1925. I got a 1099 with the amount of the RMD I took from that IRA, ALL of which I had withheld for Federal Taxes. When I go through the "Income" section of TurboTax (Premier 2023, the on-PC version, NOT the online version), it shows the amount from the 1099 entered as part of my income.
On the 1040-SR printed by TurboTax after all info is entered and I'm ready to file, line 4a is labelled IRA distributions, and 4b directly to its right is "Taxable amount". They are both blank.
Is there some reason the decedent IRA distribution, entirely withheld for Federal Taxes, would not show up under "Income"? It seems to me it should still be there.

the amount should appear on Line 4b.
Review the code you entered from Box 7 of 1099-R.
review your answers to the followup questions after entering 1099-R.
something went wrong.
Did it show up on line 5 instead of 4? Check if the little IRA box between boxes 7&8 is checked. Did the withholding in box 4 show up on line 26? Oh, by the way, I don't think you will be able to efile if the withholding is that much. Let me know if you can't, I'm thinking of having it all withheld too this year 2024.
Or you answered a question wrong. Delete the 1099R and enter it again.

You were right -- one question for a checkbox had my option off to the left, and I overlooked it, probably from trying to do it too fast. I corrected that, and the money shows up on 4b as expected (though not on 4a, but I'm less worried about that).
@VolvoGirl - you were right; I marked the other answer as 'best' because I *think* it was posted first, but both of you were right. Thanks to you both!
