Entered a CSA Form 1099R in Turbo tax and can't file because box 16ais not complete
The CSA 1099R does not have a box 16a. Do I put in the taxable amount in box 2a for box 16a?

I entered my 1099 as a CSA1099R. My CSA 1099R does not have a box 16. The CSA 1099R input screen does not have a box 16 which is the State Distribution for the state tax withheld. Box 2a on my CSA1099R shows the Taxable amount. But in the final review Turbotax won't let me Efile unless box 16 is full.
My wife's 1099R has a box 16 which is the same as her box 2a Taxable amount. The 1099R input screen for her 1099R has a box 16 which is the same amount as box 2a, Taxable amount.
This still does not enter an amount in the 16 box. Should I just enter the amount in Box 14?
To clarify, what version of Turbo Tax are you working in? If you are working in the software version, you may go to the forms mode in your return and then go directly to the 1099R that reports the CSA distribution. You can enter the amount directly on the 1099R in Box 16 to satisfy the program.
If you are using Turbo Tax online, let me know. We will need to investigate further to find out why Box 16 is not appearing in your program.
Normally, this shouldn't be an issue at all because the federal and state distribution is reported without having to report Box 16. With this said, if there is an entry in Box 15, you may wish to remove it to see if this makes a difference.
Using Turbotax online.
And box 16 it probably shouldn't appear for a CSA1099R because there is no box 16 on the CSA1099R issued by OPM
You're right, that box is not listed for a CSA-1099R. This may help hopefully, but it definitely will not hurt. First be sure there is no state listed unless there is withholding. Clear any box with 'delete' that does not have or need an entry.
In this situation, first please try clearing the cookies and cache. It handles many issues that seem nonsensical on a regular basis.
Watch to be sure you are selecting 'all time' as example. Do not use selections like 'last hour' for those browsers that give you options.
Once this is complete open your return then see if the error has cleared.
One last suggestion: And it seems you did select the correct option on entry but just to be sure:
CSA 1099-R must be selected when you enter your form. If you are not sure you selected that, then you should delete it, then re-enter it making sure to choose the CSA 1099-R box.
