Can the IRS see that we made a $4000 Fed Inc Tx Withheld from our SS benefit statement? Last year they could not. Is that transmitted during Efile?

The IRS did not accept refund because they were looking for W-2s, We don't have any as we are retired

The amount of federal taxes withheld is reported on your Form SSA 1099. You will enter the amount in Box 6.

Male sure you have entered your SSA 1099 in the right place. It should be entered as follows:

• Select Federal Taxes
• Select Wages and Income
• Select Show More at Retirement Plans and Social Security
• Select Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099)

You should also review the W-2 section to be sure that this information is not also reported there

Select Federal Taxes
Scroll down to Wages and Salaries and select Show More
Select Revisit at Wages and Salaries

Review the list of W-2s entered at Here's your W-2 info.  Select delete next to any information that is listed there.
