Boyfriend and I are resistered dom.partners through place of employment for insurance purposes. Will this qualify to file as "married" for taxes?
We have a signed and notarized affidavit that was required by the company I work for. However this is not the state form required by California. Though not legally married, have lived together as domestic partners for three years.

It does not. You must be married at 12/31/2016 to file as married. In some states, RDPs can file a joint return.
