This year my spouse and I each funded a Backdoor Roth for 2025 and 2026 because our income is too high for a Traditional Roth. We did this between the dates of January 1, 2026-April 14, 2026. As I was completing our taxes on Turbotax desktop, I saw that form 8606 would populate in the background. There was no way for me to check the status of form 8606 until after I filed my taxes. In downloading my completed taxes to file, I see that form 8606 did not populate and the contributions are not reflected on our 1040 form.
The questions asked by TurboTax to complete the IRA/Roth process are confusing, at best and I see there are many individuals who are having problems completing the process for form 8606 to generate properly. I also paid for "Expert Advice" and was given the incorrect information that I do not need to worry about the 2025 contributions until we complete our 2026 taxes. Our contributions were done post tax and not through an employer program so it's imperative we amend our return so we don't get double taxed. Can anyone please offer how they completed the Traditional and Roth Contribution section so that I can get form 8606 to populate?

When you amend your return so that Form 8606 is filed, you only need to be concerned about the 2025 non-deductible Traditional IRA contributions that you made. You will not report anything with regard to the 2026 non-deductible Traditional IRA contributions, or the Roth IRA conversion. Both of those transactions will be reported on your 2026 tax return.
Use the steps in the TurboTax help article below to enter your 2025 Traditional IRA contributions and indicate that they are non-deductible. If you are eligible to make a deductible contribution, then you should see a question on the screen about making the contribution non-deductible. If you are not eligible to make a deductible contribution, then it is understood that it will be non-deductible and you will not see a question on the screen.
The non-deductible Traditional IRA contribution will then be reported on Form 8606 as basis in the IRA. Then, next year when you report the Roth IRA conversion, the basis will be taken into account so that the conversion will not be taxable (as long as you have no other Traditional IRA accounts). There will be two Form 8606 included, one for the taxpayer and one for the spouse, if contributions were made for each of you.
Follow the steps under the heading Step 1: Enter the non-deductible contribution to a Traditional IRA for your version of TurboTax:
