2020 Brokerage 5498-SA received after filing

Hi,

I overcontributed to 401k. Requested and received distribution back. Did not expect to get 2020 Brokerage 5498-SA, so I included the distribution into Other income. Just received the form. Should I know submit an amendment? not do anything?

What? A 5498-SA is an informational report about your HSA, not about a 401(k) plan. The withdrawal of excess contributions should either be an adjustment to your W-2 or on a 1099-R (depends on when you requested the withdrawal).

Did you contact your employer about this excess contribution? Did they adjust your W-2 to account for it? You need to talk to your employer first.
