1099r

Gross distribution was $25,000

State tax withheld was $4,000

Fed. tax withheld $8,000

State Distribution: 0.00

message: For box 12a efilings, New York State, tax withholdings cannot be greater than or equal to gross distribution or state distribution. I've tried to re-enter all data manually, but the error continues to come up. Error did not appear until after an update was performed on TurboTax, and now I can't seem to fix it.

Error is with Turbotax. Please help.

You cannot have state taxes withheld without a distribution entered. Just enter the distribution amount box 16 for the state as the gross amount in box 1.

Thank you for this suggestion and I know that this does work to remove the error, but the amount for 'State Distribution' now doesn't match the 1099R I rec'd from the financial institution. Perhaps the 1099R is incorrect? At any rate, I'll use this correction if I don't hear of any other options. Thanks for your response!
