I filed my taxes two weeks ago and today I got a corrected 1099R and the only thing different between the original and the corrected copy is the IRS/SEP/SIMPLE box is checked on the corrected version. The Gross Distribution was only $829.35 and I paid $165.87 in taxes when it was distributed to me. Do I have to file an amendment or will the checked box not make a difference?

Maybe. Go ahead and prepare the amendment. If there are no changes in your tax refund or amount due, don't file the amendment. If there are changes to your federal or state amounts, then file the amended form(s). The instructions are in that link.
The rules for IRA distributions are different from the rules for other retirement plans.
do you have a prior years basis in your IRA.? it make a big difference.
otherwise, your distribution is on the wrong line of 1040.
you might as well file it since it is so easy to amend with e-File.
BUT
don't waste your e-File of 1040-X if you think you may need it for another reason later this tax season.
