I am manually adding my 1099-R from my military retirement, but TurboTax is saying it is my wife's. I am not being asked who the 1099-r is for at the beginning of the process
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If you are using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions, on the screen that asks you what type of Form 1099-R you have, there are selections to indicate who the form belongs to, by name when filing as Married Filing Jointly.
Back out of the 1099-R entry screen and go to the Form 1099-R selection screen.
If you are not seeing the question go back out and select Income>>Retirement>>Start next to the 1099-R. The first question is "Verify the owner of this 1099-R" Taxpayer or Spouse. It does not give a name.
