1099-R with code H in box 7 issue?

This 1099-R is a company Roth 401k total distribution direct rollover to Roth IRA, dollar amount in box 1 with box 5 has the same dollar amount as in box 1, $0 in box 2a, with code H in box 7.

After entering this 1099-R, 1040 form line 4a, 4b blank but line 4c rollover was checked, but line 5a, 5b have the correct dollar amount as in box 1 and 2a of 1099-R, and 1040 line 5c no item was checked.

That's not correct, as you would expect line 5c rollover should be checked and not line 4c.

This would cause your e-file with IRS rejected as you cannot rollover with $0 in line 4a (with line 4c rollover checked).

Does anything come across this issue?

How to fix this?

Do Turbo Tax know about that?

Yes, this is a bug in TurboTax.  I've seen it said in another thread that this is expected to be fixed in this week's update, but we'll have to wait and see.  There is no good workaround.

I am also experiencing the same and issue on a 1099-R with Code H for line 7.  This is a Roth to Roth IRA rollover.

This bug was fixed several weeks ago.  If you are using the desktop version of TurboTax, makes sure that you have updated TurboTax.  If the problem persists, try deleting and reentering the code-H From 1099-R.

The original problem was that TurboTax was marking the Rollover box on line 4c instead of the Rollover box on line 5c.  TurboTax now correctly marks the Rollover box on line 5c.  Nothing regarding this rollover is to be present on line 4a/b/c, only on line 5a/b/c.

Creating a test case for this to be submitted for further investigation showed that the issue has been resolved.  Please let us know if you are still seeing the situation you described with the rollover being reported incorrectly on Form 1040.
