Hello,
I'm wondering if there's a way to add a different value, along with a note of explanation, for my 1099-R. Here's the backstory:
I made a contribution of about $3,000 into a traditional IRA in 2024. Realizing almost immediately that I meant to put it into a Roth IRA, I transferred all of the funds into my Roth account (I have screenshots that show the timeline of the transactions, which were one day apart). My 1099-R shows the entirety of this balance as taxable; in essence, taxing me for my mistake (my actual gains were only a few cents). While not factually incorrect, I'm hoping that if I can explain the situation somehow on my tax forms, the IRS will recognize that this was simply an error on my part and will not tax me for that amount.
So, to get back to my question, is there a mechanism in Turbotax for me to add those screenshots and a note, while entering a value that differs from Vanguard's 1099-R?
Thanks!

No, you have an entry error: Delete the 1099-R. You need to enter the $3,000 contribution to the ROTH before you enter the 1099-R. Then the program can connect the contribution was distributed and not tax you on the full amount - just the few cents.
