I have a small corporation, had a person hired for a trial period, paid him 2 checks, but was not able to get his SSN. He kept saying that he forgot to bring it and then one day has not shown up for work. I am suppose to give him 1099 form, because paid him over $600, but cannot do that without the SSN. What can I do in that situation?

Please see below for steps you will need to take to try to obtain the contract employee's social security number.  Please note that you will probably have to file your 1099s and 1096 using paper forms if you are unable to get this information.
