I am a disabled veteran and do not have taxable income from this disability, I am also over the age of 65.

I have social security of 7k yearly and a small retirement check of 1800 yearly.

With those two incomes do I need to file as I also got a 1099-C for 13k.

    You don’t have to file.

Thank you for the help! The 1099-C won't flag some audit? I have not filed in years as my taxable income was low, but I was not sure with this new form.

That form doesn’t affect your tax and doesn’t have to be reported.
