Question
I was never asked the question about residency in a foreign country with a list of countries. Because of this error on turbo tax’s part, my social security taxable amount was put at zero by TT. Now instead of $419 refund, i had to pay the IRS $2607!!! TT says because i didnt have a live TT person do my taxes, that i did my own taxes & i don’t qualify for the accuracy guarantee. That's so wrong. Using TT online isnt doing our own taxes at all. We just answer a series of questions and plug in some w2 & 1099 forms. TT does all the rest and we trust it to be correct. I filed for the guarantee and requested a full refund of the $129 i paid TT since the glitch in their system regarding this residency question is well documented with thousands of customers saying the same thing. Either they werent asked the question at all or the system changed their No answer to the default Yes. Turbo Tax hasn’t responded to my claim.
I think its time for a class action lawsuit.
Anyone else get their guarantee to pay the irs interest & penalties on this issue?
