Social Security deductions
I have form SSA-1099 for Social Security Benefits. Box 4 States Benefits Repaid to SSA in 2016. Do I claim this on my tax return? If so how?
That number has already been deducted from Box 3 (gross benefits) to arrive at Box 5 (taxable benefits), which is what will carry over to your tax return. (It even says so in the description for Box 5.)
